- יְאוֹרm. (b. h.; v. אֲרִיתָא) channel, river, esp. the Nile. Cant. R. to III, 4 (ref. to מיער with suspended ע, Ps. 80:14) אם זכיתם מן הי׳ … מן היער if you win do good, the enemy attacking you will be (powerless like an animal) coming from the river, if not, he will be like a beast of the forest; Midr. Till. to Ps. l. c.; Yalk. Ps. 830; Ab. dR. N. ch. XXXIV כחזיר של י׳ like a water swine (pork-fish, silurus). Ex. R. s. 1.
